What Exactly Are Blackheads?
Blackhead (comedone) = a pore filled with resin, or a "plug" made of:
- Sebum
- Dead keratinocytes
- Melanin (oxidized sebum → blackhead)
- Bacterial microbiome
Whitehead (closed comedone): The pore is closed — a visible white "head".
Blackhead (open comedone): The pore is open — melanin oxidized by air → black.
Strips on the nose only pull out the top layer (melanin) — the root remains. The pore looks "clean" for a few days, then fills up again.

Every Evening: Retinol
