Couperose skin prone to redness needs vascular strengthening and soothing of irritations. In this category, you will find dermo-cosmetics that soothe, reduce redness, and support the skin's protective barrier. We have gathered here products for the daily care of reactive skin — skin that flushes after a hot drink, frost, wind, or a glass of wine and is slow to return to balance.

Where does vascular redness come from?

Couperose skin has vessel walls with naturally weaker elastin and collagen. Under the influence of stimuli — heat, cold, alcohol, stress — the vessels dilate more strongly and do not fully return to their original size. Over time, they become fixed as visible telangiectasias, colloquially known as "spider veins," and the diffuse redness of the cheeks and nose becomes permanent. This is favored by a fair complexion, family predisposition, and exposure to the sun and extreme temperatures. Well-chosen care will not remove existing capillaries, but it helps to strengthen their walls, soothe reactivity, and limit the recurrence of redness.

Which ingredients and why

  • Niacinamide — strengthens the epidermal barrier and visibly reduces redness; one of the best-researched ingredients for skin prone to redness.
  • Azelaic acid and azeloglicina — a gentle form for couperose skin, helps even out skin tone and reduce redness.
  • Rutin and Vitamin K — ingredients traditionally supporting the appearance and integrity of small vessels.
  • Ceramides — rebuild the protective barrier, making the skin less reactive to external factors.
  • Chamomile extract — a soothing addition for irritated skin.
  • Mineral SPF 50 filter (zinc oxide, titanium dioxide) — protects weakened vessel walls from UV without irritation.

How to choose your care

There is one rule: we strengthen, we do not irritate. For cleansing, choose gentle gels and milks without SLS, and wash with lukewarm (not hot) water. In serums and creams, look for ingredients that strengthen the barrier and soothe, and use a mineral filter daily. Avoid cosmetics with denatured alcohol as a main ingredient, essential oils, menthol, and camphor, as well as strong acids and retinol at the start — approach the latter cautiously and gradually. Reactive skin is best managed with a calm, short, and thoughtful routine.

If you are not sure where to start, our specialists will help you choose a set for your skin, and if necessary, they will also advise on treatments at the institute — from barrier-strengthening care to closing visible capillaries.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between couperose skin and rosacea?

Couperose skin is a skin type prone to vessel dilation, redness, and visible telangiectasias. Rosacea is a chronic dermatological disease where, in addition to redness and capillaries, papules and pustules appear — it requires consultation with a dermatologist. Dermo-cosmetics from this category support the care of both skin types but do not replace rosacea treatment.

Which ingredients are best for couperose skin?

The most effective ones include niacinamide and centella asiatica (soothing and barrier strengthening), azelaic acid, and ingredients supporting vessels: rutin, hesperidin, butcher's broom extract, and vitamin K. Ceramides and panthenol rebuild the barrier, and a mineral SPF 50 filter protects against the sun.

What to avoid in the care of skin prone to redness?

Avoid cosmetics with denatured alcohol as a main ingredient, essential oils, menthol, and camphor, as well as strong acids. Introduce retinol cautiously and gradually. Wash your skin with lukewarm, not hot water, and choose gentle preparations without SLS so as not to irritate reactive vessels.

Will dermo-cosmetics remove existing capillaries?

No — home care does not remove already fixed telangiectasias. However, properly selected dermo-cosmetics help strengthen vessel walls, soothe reactivity, and limit the recurrence of redness. Permanent closure of visible capillaries is the domain of treatments, which you can ask our specialists about at the institute if needed.
