Hands age faster than the face and reveal age sooner than any other part of the body. The reason is simple: the skin on the back of the hands is thin, has little adipose tissue, is constantly exposed to the sun, and is washed a dozen times a day. In this category, you will find hand creams, masks, and regenerating treatments.
What you will find in this category
- Daily moisturizing creams – lightweight, fast-absorbing, for use after every wash.
- Regenerating and barrier creams – rich formulas with urea, ceramides, and panthenol for dry and chapped skin.
- Sunscreen creams – hyperpigmentation prevention; the backs of the hands are one of the most common sites for them to develop.
- Brightening treatments – for existing sunspots.
- Hand masks – intensive care, also available in glove form.
- Nail and cuticle care – oils and strengthening serums.
Why pigmentation spots appear precisely on the hands
Because it is the only part of the body exposed to the sun practically every day throughout the year – including winter and while driving. We usually protect our faces with SPF, but almost never our hands. Hand cream with SPF applied in the morning is the simplest prevention that exists, and it only starts working once it becomes a habit.
For existing spots, the same active ingredients work as on the face: vitamin C, niacinamide, tranexamic and azelaic acid, retinol – but without SPF, the effect will be negligible.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I use hand cream? After every wash. This sounds excessive, but every wash strips lipids from the epidermis.
Is urea cream suitable for hands? Yes, at a concentration of 5–10%. Higher concentrations are intended rather for feet.
What to use for chapped cuticles? Cuticle oil and regular moisturizing; if the problem recurs, it is worth checking iron and B vitamin levels.
