Sesretinal Mature Skin — gel

Anti-aging treatment for every skin type.

This is a gel from the Sesretinal Mature Skin line by the Spanish brand Sesderma, which has for years based its formulas on liposomal technology: it encloses active ingredients in microscopic phospholipid vesicles, so they penetrate deeper and are released gradually, instead of acting abruptly from the first minute.

The package capacity is 50 ml. Indications: anti-age.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Retinal — one step closer to retinoic acid

Vitamin A only acts in the skin after being converted into retinoic acid. Retinol requires two conversions for this, retinal only one — which is why it works faster and more strongly with comparable tolerance. It is an ingredient for people who already know retinol and want to move to a higher level.

  • —Faster conversion. One conversion instead of two — the ingredient reaches its active form more efficiently.
  • —Smoothing of wrinkles. Stimulates cell renewal and collagen synthesis.
  • —Antibacterial action. Retinal, unlike retinol, shows activity against bacteria associated with imperfections.
  • —Evening out skin tone. Accelerated epidermal turnover brightens superficial discoloration.

How to use — gel

1. Apply a thin layer to cleansed skin.

2. Spread gently, patting until absorbed.

3. Use morning and evening, unless the packaging indicates otherwise.

4. In the morning, finish the ritual with SPF 50 sunscreen.

How does retinal differ from retinol?

The number of conversions needed to reach the active form: retinal needs one, retinol two. Retinal therefore works faster.

Does that mean it irritates more?

Not necessarily. Studies indicate good tolerance of retinal, and the liposomal form further improves it. The rules for introduction are the same as with retinol.

Should I start with retinal?

If you have never used retinoids, it is better to start with retinol and switch to retinal after a few months.

Should it be used during pregnancy?

No. Retinoids are contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
