How Self-Tanner Works

DHA reacts with amino acids in the stratum corneum to form melanoidins — brown-colored pigments. The effect develops gradually over a few hours and lasts as long as the colored cells remain on the skin's surface, typically five to seven days, until natural exfoliation occurs.
