How self-tanner works

DHA reacts with amino acids in the stratum corneum to create melanoidins — brown-colored pigments. The effect appears gradually over a few hours and lasts as long as the pigmented cells remain on the skin's surface — typically five to seven days, until natural exfoliation occurs.
